FAQ:
I’VE NEVER PICKED UP A PAINT-BRUSH IN MY LIFE, WILL I BE OK TO DO YOUR BEGINNERS COURSE?
Yes! We assume you have zero experience and take you through the process step by step. We will guide you through a series of exercises that build your skills each week, making paintings as you learn.
I DID A BIT OF PAINTING YEARS AGO, SHOULD I STILL START AT LEVEL 1?
Yes! Unless you have a thorough understanding of oil painting, colour mixing, basic colour theory and drawing you will need to start at Level 1.
I ALREADY KNOW ALL OF THAT
Then you are ready to join our Level 2 class which covers more advanced techniques, or one of our ongoing open studio classes. If you’re not sure, send us an email.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO CLASS?
Just yourself and your oil paints (materials list on our site) or buy or hire a kit from us. All painting mediums must be low-toxic & low-odour as we take OH&S very seriously.
I’VE BOOKED ONLINE BUT NOW WANT TO HIRE/BUY A KIT
No problem, we have spare kits available at the studio which you can pick up and pay for on the night. Let us know in advance so we can make sure there’s one put aside for you.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
You will need to bring an apron, or purchase one from us. Don’t wear your best clothes, and dress appropriately for the weather, we have limited heating and cooling. Berets are optional! 😉
WHAT HAPPENS IF I MISS A CLASS?
Unfortunately we cannot offer any ‘make-up’ classes as there is a lot of information to get across! Our Beginners Courses are structured to make delivery of information smooth and efficient, and to do that we need every student to be on ‘the same page’ each week. If we have ‘make-up’ students in other classes, the other students and teacher’s time is compromised.
I’VE BOOKED IN ADVANCE BUT NEED TO CHANGE MY DATES
If you contact us as soon as possible we can transfer you to a later course, depending on availability. Please read our Terms & Conditions on the Weteachme course description. Changes must be at least two weeks prior to the course start date.
WHAT ELSE IS INCLUDED?
We believe our course price represents good value and we offer our students many ‘extras’ other courses do not, including:
• Use of safe low-toxic, low-odour solvents
• Clean up materials for hands and brushes
• Use of studio equipment
• Drawing materials
• Paper towel
• Gourmet refreshments
• Storage facilities
I LOVED THE CLASS AND WANT TO STAY!
Yay! Once you’ve completed our Beginners Level 1 course you can join our Level 2 Course which runs several times a year, or join one of our open studio classes for ongoing students, depending on availability. Our ongoing classes drop in price as you become more independent.
